Mosaic Arts by Carrie Wainwright
Carrie Wainwright is a self-taught artist working in watercolors and, more recently, mosaics. Working for 20 years as an advocate for children with special needs, Carrie brings to the medium a passion for the broken and unwanted, finding beauty in damaged and discarded items.
Carrie mosaics in both a traditional and a Pique Assiette style, a French term meaning "stolen from plate." Thrift stores that support local charities are the main source of accent pieces for her mosaics. Previously owned china, glass and jewelry find a second life in landscapes, collages and abstract compositions.

The energy from items worn or handled by people for generations guides her work, coupled with energy from semi-precious gemstones like quartz, jade, carnelian, jasper, agate, and amethyst.

Wainwright creates custom compositions and architectural installations that incorporate clients' personal items, color schemes and settings. For more information please email carriesmosaics@gmail.com
